Safety Measure Protocol for Use of Manikins and Training Materials

The following protocol is established to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all staff and students participating in training sessions at Pure Pulse Adult and Child CPR. All participants are expected to comply with these guidelines at all times.

1. General Hygiene and Sanitation
  • All manikins, training masks, and equipment must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before and after each training session in accordance with CDC and manufacturer guidelines.

  • Disposable face shields or lungs are to be used with all CPR manikins and replaced after each student’s use.

  • Hand sanitizer must be available in the classroom, and participants are required to sanitize or wash hands before and after practicing skills.

2. Equipment Use
  • Each student will be provided with their own set of disposable supplies (e.g., manikin lungs, face shields, gloves) during training.

  • Manikins must be placed at a safe distance from one another to allow students to practice skills without crowding.

  • Only trained instructors are permitted to set up and adjust manikins or AED trainers.

  • AED trainers must be checked prior to each use to ensure batteries and pads are functioning properly.

3. Infection Control
  • Any participant exhibiting symptoms of illness (e.g., fever, cough, vomiting, diarrhea) will not be permitted to participate in hands-on training until medically cleared.

  • Participants must wear gloves when practicing skills involving potential contact with fluids (e.g., First Aid scenarios).

  • Masks may be required for close-proximity training at the discretion of the instructor or in accordance with public health guidance.

4. Handling and Storage
  • Manikins and training materials must be stored in a clean, dry, and secure environment.

  • All disposable materials must be properly discarded in designated waste containers immediately after use.

  • Staff must inspect manikins and equipment regularly for damage and remove any defective items from service until repaired or replaced.

5. Student Responsibilities
  • Students are required to follow instructor directions for proper use of all training materials.

  • Rough handling, misuse, or intentional damage to equipment will result in removal from training and potential liability for damages.

  • Students must immediately report any injury, discomfort, or equipment malfunction to the instructor.

6. Staff Responsibilities
  • Instructors must review safety protocols at the beginning of each class.

  • Instructors are responsible for monitoring student use of manikins and equipment to ensure compliance.

  • Staff must document cleaning and sanitizing procedures following each class.

7. Emergency Measures
  • First Aid supplies must be available on-site at all times.

  • Instructors must be prepared to respond to any real medical emergency that may occur during training.

  • All incidents must be documented and reported to Pure Pulse Adult and Child CPR management within 24 hours.

✅ Acknowledgment: All staff and students must review and agree to follow this Safety Measure Protocol prior to participation in training.
